We will be hearing from Dr. Tony Lowe of the University of Georgia about Isaiah Lofton, the first black Postmaster in Hogansville, GA. At the time, Postmasters were appointed by the President and despite protests from the local community, Mr. Lofton served from 1897 - 1901. Dr. Lowe will share information about Mr. Lofton, the attempt on his life and what it meant for the local African American community.
